DJI Inspire 3 vs DJI Inspire 2: what's new and updated

DJI has just released DJI Inspire 3, its latest aerial cinema drone alongside the new Zenmuse X9-8K Air. Inspire 3 replaces the Inspire 2 released in 2016. Let's look at the differences, updates, similarities, and anything else of note.

Camera updates: Zenmuse X9-8K Air

The new Zenmuse X9-8K Air camera payload is a cutting-edge camera system that features an 18mm DL lens and is capable of recording video at 8K/25fps CinemaDNG, 8K/75fps Apple ProRes RAW, and 4K/120fps Apple ProRes RAW. Additionally, the camera has a dual native ISO of 800/4000, which allows for superior low-light performance.

It also boasts an impressive dynamic range of 14+ stops, giving you incredible detail in both the brightest and darkest parts of your footage. Overall, the Zenmuse X9-8K Air camera payload is a powerful tool for professional videographers and photographers who demand the best in image quality and performance.

Aircraft updates: Inspire 3

DJI Inspire 3 comes equipped with several advanced features, including new TB51 intelligent flight batteries and foldable propellers, which provide a maximum flight time of 28 minutes.

The drone is also equipped with omnidirectional obstacle avoidance, which allows it to navigate around obstacles with ease. Another notable feature is the drone's quick charging capability, with the ability to charge up to 90% in just 35 minutes. The drone is also compatible with the Ronin 4D storage system, which includes the DJI PROSSD 1TB.

DJI Inspire 3 offers Waypoint Pro, which enables users to program a flight path in advance, and Spotlight Pro, which enables the drone to automatically track and follow a subject while maintaining a consistent distance and framing.

Ground station updates: RC Plus

The DJI Inspire 3 drone comes equipped with the improved DJI RC Plus, which is the same controller used in the DJI M300 RTK. The controller provides several advanced features, including a maximum transmission distance of 15km when using one controller, and 12km when using dual controllers. This enables users to control the drone from a considerable distance, providing greater flexibility and freedom in terms of flight paths and angles.

DJI Inspire 3 also supports several accessories, including the High-Bright Remote Monitor, DJI Master Wheels, and DJI Three-Channel Follow Focus system.
